HISTORICAL ROOTS OF THE NAME SAABA
Sáaba is a variation of the word for Seba
(star) in the ancient language of km.t
(the Black Land) now called Egypt or the Arabic Republic of Msr ( جمهوريّة مِصْر العربيّة ) by occupiers. Seba represented the Seven Shining Ones that never die. Sáaba can also be seen in the Arawak word Siba meaning rock/stone. It is also a variant of Saba in the occupier's tongue Arabic (سبأ) and Sheba in Ge'ez (ሳባ) in Ethiopia; the name of the ancient land and Kingdom that covered present day Ethiopia, Eritrea, parts of the Sudan (old Nubia), and the southern half of Arabia called Yemen. And when considering the bible, Saaba, as Sheba (שבא), is in reference to the son and grandson of Cush, the grandson of Abraham, the grandson of Shem, as well as the land mentioned above. It also indicates completion, an oath, bread, or seven, in the hebrew language, as in the language of km.t.So in Ge'ez, Sáaba points to Ethiopia and Eritrea. In Arabic, it points to southern and central Arabia. In hebrew texts, it points to modern day Iraq and Iran, since Sheba is a son of Cush and the family of Sheba originally controlled those areas if you deem the bible as fact(Cush is another way of saying Nubia or Ethiopia). Sáaba, because of 400 year old migration, exploration, war, and captivity, has been carried from the eastern half of the world to the western hemisphere; specifically the Caribbean.
OUR KINDAH TREE
During colonialism, the southwestern half of the island of Xaymaka (called Santiago and now called Jamaica) was named after the sister of the biblical Miriam/Mary (מרים) St. Elizabeth, which is Eli Sheba in the ancient hebrew. Eli Sheba (אֱלִישֶׁבַע) means My El, is the Oath.
In the Eli Sheba area is one of the last settlements (Accompong) of the so-called Maroons (cimarrón - some say escaped animal, we say MOUNTAIN PEOPLE) that was established after several devastating wars with British forces. The contractual treaty was signed near the most sacred tree called Kindah. As in the tradition of most ancient Afrikan Nations, politics was conducted near a sacred tree. The Kindah is perceived as the family tree. We at the Great House view our tree as not only a sign of family, but a sign of the link to the Ethiopian/Sabaean Kingdom.

The Sabaean Kingdom in Yemen, southern Arabia, was an extension of Napata/Nabata (Sheba Kingdom) that was located in what is now called Ethiopia and Eritrea. The Kindah (كندة) tribe, that was situated in central Arabia, was one of the many peoples under the rule of Napata (Northern Ethiopia). Napata is the place where the early Nubian Egyptian royalty had ruled both Ta mery (Egypt) as well as Ta Nehesi (Nubia).
WHY WE REPRESENT SAABA: THE MYAL
The Kindah Tree represents the presence of the Moors and Garamantes (Koramantyne) and their contributions to the Myal in Eli Sheba (St. Elizabeth)- My El, Sheba or the Myal, Saaba. It was in this part of Jamaica the Great Mother Myal (Rulership), who is called Sáaba, and descendant of the so-called Maroons, who were the Akan, Congo, Garamantes, Moors, and indigenous Yamaye, was born (19th Century).
Nana Sáaba is our five pointed star (Garamantes, Moors, Akan, Yamaye, and Congo on each point), our sun, our refinement and evolution, our presence in the Caribbean and the Americas, and our connection to Northern and Western Africa. We come to help our people in Her Name.
